If a shelter does not allow dogs; where could the family send the dog until they are in a better situation?

A family is moving into a shelter soon and they love their dog. The dog has been a part of the family for a very long time so letting the dog go is out of the question. Is there anywhere the family could send the dog for a few months until the family is in a better living agrrangement where their pet is allowed. Please keep in mind that there is a reason to why the family is in the shelter (financial situation) Thanks again
